Ugo Guidi, Nude in foreshortening (1958)
Indian ink, 28x22,1 cm
Florence, Galleria degli Uffizi, Gabinetto dei Disegni e delle Stampe
Here it is a drawing that is representative of the classical and traditional education received from Ugo Guidi and also of how he is able to represent with great realism the perspective of the body.
This is a laying woman represented in foreshortening, so some anatomic particulars are more evident than others. The feet and the thighs occupy a half composition, because observing a woman laying down with the feet turned towards us, we can see that the feet and the legs appear bigger than the rest of the body.
Then, we cannot see her stomach, which is covered by the thighs, while we can see instead the bosom and the head, that would remain totally covered if the woman would not lift it.
