Forte dei Marmi, Museo Ugo Guidi

The Isaac's sacrifice narrates one of the most representend episode in the history of the art, taken from the Genesis: the patriarch Abraham is called by God to testify his faith sacrifying his son Isaac, but in the end he is stopped by an angel sent from God a little bit before the sacrifice happens.
This is another touching work: Ugo Guidi describes the moment in which the angel arrives and stoppes Abraham, while Isaac is at their feet, ready to be sacrified and represented with a frightened and desperate grimace. The observer is captured by the intense glance between Abraham and the angel. The angel is not so severe as other represented in similar works (for example, the angel sculpted by Filippo Brunelleschi in the tile realized for the 1401 contest): he is at the same time peremptory and mild. It is not necessary for him to stop with strenght Abraham's arm as the angel of Brunelleschi does, but is enough for him to look the patriarch.
