Ugo Guidi, Fishermen (1954)
stone, h. 34x47x45 cm
Forte dei Marmi (LU), Museo Ugo Guidi
This is the first work belonging to the crafts series, realized in 1954. The
Fishermen are two and they are pulling a net: one is above the other, who is keeping in his hands an object of a stretched shape, maybe a fish.
Guidi is interested in making the effort of the two men evident, because the fisherman is a tiring craft, so the reflection of the artist is towards the craft and not towards the characters: the expression of them is actually undefinite (this is a stratagem Guidi uses often in his creations, for example those which describe sports).
Both the protagonists are energic men, realized with real anatomic proportions.
