Ugo Guidi, The medical examination (1954)

Even though it is not a tiring craft, that of the physician is an important activity. The medical examination is realized again in stone: if before the stone was realized to express the physical effort, now it express the intellectual effort of the physician.
The woman is motionless on her chair, looking in front of her, and the doctor is behind her while he is doing the auscultation. The particulars are rough-hewed: we do not know the expression of the characters and we do not know if the woman is clothed or not. Another reflection on the occupation rather than on the characters.
