Ugo Guidi, Dancer (1973)
terracotta, h. 43x17x18 cm
Forte dei Marmi, Museo Ugo Guidi
Ugo Guidi realized two dancers, one in 1973 and the other in 1974: both the dancers are similar but this is not true for dimensions and material. The 1973 dancer is in terracotta and the 1974 dancer is in pink stone and is tall twice as the first. Here woman and sport are again together, even though comparing the
Dancer to the
Skater we notice that the
Dancer is much less severe, because now Guidi wants to represent her loveliness and her prettiness.
If we compare the 1973 realization with the 1974
Dancer we see that the pose is the same: the protagonist is leaning against her left leg, the right leg is bent, her tutu is slightly raised, the arms are stretched along the hips, the face is motionless and the eyes look in front of them.
But the 1974 realization is more refined and the dancer appears in all her prettiness: the details are more definite, the body is modelled with more accuracy, the face details are more concrete. This is one of the most refined works by Ugo Guidi.
