1969 is a very important year for Ugo Guidi's production. From this year, the realization of "totem figures" will be very intense. The 1969 Totem figure could be insignificant, but it reveals the wish of searching for the formal purity of the material.
And if we would compare this work to something concrete, we could think that this totem figure is similar to a quarry, a polished and irregular marble block, with hollows and leaning elements.
