Ugo Guidi, Football match (1972)

The forward shoots the ball, the astonished defender observes his opponent but the goalkeeper blocks the ball before it reaches the goal: this is a short description of the Football match realized in 1972.
Once again the favourite footballer of Ugo Guidi is the goalkeeper (we cannot forget that Guidi, when he was a boy, played football doing the goalkeeper), which with his save avoids the defeat. The expressions are vaguely rough-hewed, to avoid a precise individual connotation: the sculptor wants to represents the universal values of the football.
The forward is represented in the moment in which is doing a shot, the defender is going to slip against him while the goalkeeper moves towards his left and does a dive grasping the ball. Behind him, a goalpost and a net hewed with some furrows. Guidi represents this football match with great ability.
