Ugo Guidi, Woman with dog (1966)
terracotta, h. 25x11x10,5 cm
Forte dei Marmi, Museo Ugo Guidi
The world of women is described by Guidi in much of its parts, but the dearest one is the ordinary life of the woman, the little day-by-day actions the woman does. Women combing, women in front of a mirror, women at the seaside and now a woman going out for a walk with her dog.
Woman with dog is a terracotta realized in 1966: the woman is standing and leaning on her leg. A hand keeps the dog on the leash: the dog is only rough-hewed, it seems there are no animals near the woman's figure. Hewing the woman, Guidi eliminates every useless detail such as necklaces, ear-rings, bracelets and even clothes: there is only a figure designed in her absolute characteristics, in her concrete purity.
