Ugo Guidi, Sat motherhood (1970)
terracotta, h. 36x15x25 cm
Forte dei Marmi, Museo Ugo Guidi
Once again Ugo Guidi describes the motherhood representing a pregnant woman. Now the position is different, and the
Sat motherhood is on a chair. Nevertheless, such as in the 1956
Sat figure, we cannot see the chair. The figure spreads her legs and brings her right hand to the pubis and her left hand to the womb, doing a gesture similar to the gesture of the 1949
Adolescent.
If we compare this work to the 1965
Motherhood we notice that in this small statue Guidi represents a more primitive figure, and this is meaningful of how the artist has become completely mature and is conscious of his ability.
